Heyy...♥

It's been a long time....
*cue music* I shouldn't have left you (left you) without a dope beat to step to....{Timbaland voice}
But anyway, I'd love to tell you guys that I'm back from the little hiatus I took over the past few weeks, and that I'll be blogging on the regular again buuutttttttt I've always felt that a LiaR ain't shit. So...yeah. We'll just take things a day at a time lol. I've really missed you guys, though! I'll have to catch up on reading (and posting) at some point. Out of nowhere, life just got extra busy, and I found myself trying to pencil sleep and hair washes into my schedule...smh. Lol. It's been a crazy couple months. For those who don't know, I've worked at Torrid for 2 years now. Well I was recently promoted to Assistant Manager, which occupies a big chunk of my time. No complaints there... the hours and the pay are alright with me...Not too shabby for my first and only retail job, right? Lol. This is also my last semester of undergrad, so I've been trying to wrap things up on a strong note. So far, so good...in addition to classes, I've been doing my externship at a local elementary school. So yes... busy, busy, busy. All this while remaining fly and fabulous! I've been rockin' my natural to the fullest, and I've cut about 4 inches off since that last pic I posted, a few entries back.... don't worry, you can hardly tell the difference. The 'fro is still in full effect. Lol. Just minus a few pesky ends. 
Enough about me, though.....How've my old faithfuls been? Do any of you have twitters? I'd love to follow, so if you do, leave me an @ name, or follow me. Day 6--Letter to a Stranger.♥

Dear Random Chick at the Mall,
You make me want to vomit... I understand that times are hard, and that you may not be able to afford things such as soap, body wash, feminine wash, body spray, deodorant, etc... but could you do us all a favor and keep your broke self at home? We do not wish to wallow in the scent of...whatever you call that odor reeking from your pores. It's not cute. It's not fly. It's not fresh {literally}...It's all bad. If you can enter my store at 2pm, leave at 2:15pm, and still have your B.O. lingering at 6pm, it's a problem. One would think that you'd have stopped by the many locations {ie, RiteAid, dollar stores, Walgreens, Kroger, etc} you inevitably have to pass traveling to the mall, in order to purchase the goods necessary to make yourself smell more like freshness and less like decomposition...but alas, the mall seemed to be more important. FYI, there's an aisle dedicated to you and your stench in basically every store everywhere. Hopefully you'll one day be inclined to pay said aisles a visit.

OK Let's Play Catch-Up...

It's been a busy week, my honeydip was here for a week plus work has been crazy as usual...this retail management stuff is a trip. But I won't complain! Some aren't employed at all! I'm coming up on my last free week until school starts back up! Final semester of undergrad...I can't tell you how ready I am. It's been a long 4 years. They need to just gon' 'head and give me my $40G piece of paper and let me loose! Lol. 
I've been lurking reading a bunch of blogs, and I decided that, in light of my neglectful demeanor towards my own blog lately, I want to do one of the blog post-a-day things. I think the main reason I stop posting is because things become routine in my life...there's just nothing to write about sometimes lol. So hopefully this post-a-day thing will help get rid of my blogger's block, and maybe even spark up inspiration for some new posts. I still have to find like a list of topics top blog about, though. I'd love you long time if any of you could point me in the right direction lol!!

Pacing & Embracing ♥

Hey guys!! 
I've missed you! I've been soooooo neglectful to my blog as of late...but school is out for the summer (smh) so hopefully I'll be back on track lol! Other than busting my toosh to get this degree (4 months til graduation!!), I've been busting my toosh at work, living life, breakin' hearts, etc. etc. Lol. My birthday was a week ago, and for once, I actually "feel" my new age. 22 is definitely not as carefree as 21 and 20 were, but I've made it this far...why think about giving up now? With a new year under my belt, comes new experiences to look forward too, new success stories to write, new places to go, new people to meet, and new things to do. I'm pacing myself and embracing it all as it comes... So I just finished up my last two finals, and I'm looking forward to a fun weekend. It's like birthday celebration part two for me {in my current town, since last weekend I went to my hometown for my actual birthday!} and icing on the cake? My love is coming up to spend a week or so with me. He just finished up summer school too, in Iowa, so I'm grateful to be getting some QT with my cu-tie before we start back up for the Fall semester in our respective locations. The visit is especially good, because it took my mind off the fact that I missed Raheem DeVaughn's concert in my hometown today! *siggghhhhhh* I wrote a tweet about how I wasn't going, but that I'd be there in spirit since I love me some Rah...and guess what? Raheem DeVaughn retweeted me!!! I know I sound like Dorky McGroupie right now, but I promise I was soooooo excited when I saw it lol. Don't judge me. I just adore that guy! 
That's pretty much it for now... I, the eternal insomniac, am up at 1am cleaning my bathroom and kitchen...I wanna vacuum my apartment but I'm trying to be considerate of the potheads downstairs my downstairs neighbors! TTYL, my loves!

I Know, I Know...♥

I've been neglecting my blog...and for that, I am sorry! I have good reason, though...lol.
Promotion at work... This manager thing is pretty okay so far. Turnover for managers in my store is crazy, though...quitters. I'm nobody's quitter, though, so I think I'll be fine...the extra hours will motivate me. Lol.
Also, I've been borderline obsessed with my hair lately, and I've been spending my cyber life on curlynikki.com... I've been sans-relaxer for a year and a month now, and you'd think I'd be hip to all these natural hair blogs and websites already but...nope! So it's kind of like delayed infatuation... I'm just loving my hair. I mean, I always love it...but now I'm seeing what it's potential is gonna be, and all that corny stuff. It's fun.
I'm apartment hunting... this was okay for my first place, but it was a very last minute decision {read: I came up in July that year, to find an apt I needed to move into in August} so now I'm more clear about what I want and don't want in an apartment... I mean, if they're gonna take all my lil' funds, I need to be getting my money's worth. Right now, I'm not!
It's three weeks into the semester and I STILL don't have any financial aid. Life was much easier when I had my full scholarship...however, it was only good for 4 consecutive years, meaning it ended last semester...and now I see why everyone else complains so much about the office...I'm not used to having to worry about this mess.
Hmm...I think that's all for now. I need to clean, it's been a busy week but I hate my apt looking a mess. Even though no one's here but me and my cat...

Fraternization ♥

I was talking to a co-worker of mine today, and we got on the subject of relationships/friendships with one's supervisor/manager/employer. We have one manager who is thee sweetest thing ever! I always joke that she's the ivory to my ebony, because we're just always on the same wavelength. If a person walks into our store and I have something that I want to (but can't) say about them, I'll look at her (my manager) and she'll know what I'm thinking...because she was thinking it too lol. It's like we share a brain or somethin'! Anyways, our other manager is kinda cool, and she's funny (sometimes) but not as personable as manager #1...at least in the mind of my fellow employees. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that some of the employees are kinda afraid of her. Why? IDK. She's got some bully-ish tendencies, but so do I so I can handle it. Either way, both managers know how to keep the line solidly drawn between business and friendships, but do you think it's a good idea to befriend a person who's higher on the business totem pole than you? Or lower? As an employee, what if one day you screw up and wind up with your job on the line? As an employer, what if you end up having to fire someone you've become friends with? It's kind of like when you're close friends with someone and don't want to enter a romantic relationship with them...it's tempting, but weighing out the pros and cons is definitely a must. There are some people who would make lovely friends, but I personally keep all these "friendships" at arm's length.

Why Are You Still Here?♥

I'm having a great week. I almost feel like something's going to go wrong soon, because things have been going so well lol. I'm currently thinking about all the things I hate about work, however. I seriously need to find the time to seek alternative employment. 
One of the managers at my store (part time) got fired last week. Is it bad that that was the best day ever, to me?? I was happy. She sucks at life, death, and everything in between. She's just whack. 
So imagine my immense pisstivity when we received a phone call from our district manager earlier this week, saying that this chick was to be 'suspended', not terminated. Ugh!! Ruined my day! Who did you have to suck off cry and whine to in order to keep this job?? She's lazy, she's obnoxious, she doesn't dress cute (I mean, we work in the fashion industry, for God's sake!), she's irresponsible (she forgot to put the deposit into the safe when she was closing one night), and on top of all this, she's actually come to work hungover before. Seriously? Overlooking the fact that you're clearly a lush, you waddle in looking like yesterday's hot mess and smelling like last nights bar? Triflin'..
